Urban Resources
Regulations
One of the main responsibilities of the Garrett Soil
Conservation District is the review and approval of erosion and
sediment control plans as required by the state sediment control
law, Environment Article, Title 4. This law requires that prior
to initiating any activity that disturbs more than 5,000 square
feet or involving more than 100 cubic yards of earth, that an
erosion and sediment control plan be submitted to and approved
by the local soil conservation district. This review and
approval process is integrated with the county stormwater
management review and approval process, and for successful
applicants, results in the issuance of a County Grading Permit.
Applications for a County Grading Permit are coordinated
